November Favorites!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all less stuffed from Thanksgiving… it’s doubtful that I am, the gym has been kicking my butt this week after the food coma I was in for the past five days.

Today, it’s time for another monthly favorites!! My favorite time of the month personally!

I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup this month and have really been focusing on my skin since the weather has really kicked into winter so this dry skinned girl has been trying her hardest to not be flaking away before your eyes!

So first up we have Esteé Lauder’s Day Wear Moisturizer (which smells like cucumbers and has SPF 15, I believe). I love this stuff. I use it day and night (I should probably look for a night cream of some sort) and it really helps my super dry skin. It’s not oily at all, but if you don’t rub it in or give it time to settle in it can get a bit greasy. But I give it time to sink in before I apply makeup and it’s fine.

Next we have something that doesn’t leave my handbag (except for now) and sadly I’m almost out and need to pick up a new one. It’s the Clarins Moisture Rich Body Lotion. This stuff is great and a great handbag size. It’s not super fragrant, which my sensitive skin appreciates, but it does a great job of making sure my hands aren’t falling off.

We then have, the Burts Bees cuticle cream. Which I have just started using. I have the worst cuticles (mostly because I bite them) but this seems to be helping them and helping me not bite them because there is something on my skin and doesn’t taste too nice. It smells like lemons and is super fresh and really does smell delicious. So far, it has helped my nails and cuticles quite well!

We then have a mascara from Pacifica, which is a brand you can find at Ulta and Target. I got mine at Target! It’s their waterproof one (they have two I believe, I’ve tried them both and love them both) and it’s not super wow amazing lashes but it does the job. And for waterproof (which it really is doesn’t smudge or flake on me) it’s ridiculously easy to take off, it comes off with micellar water which blew my mind. It’s all natural, easy to take off, doesn’t smudge, doesn’t flake, waterproof, so it’s a gold star in my books!

Possibly my favorite favorite this month is Chapstick’s CANDY CANE CHAPSTICK. It’s my favorite thing every year. It’s limited to this season and I wait all year for it. This year I got mine from my boyfriend’s mom after we found out we both have an obsession for candy canes and peppermint. If you know me you know I love anything mint and another fun fact is that I love candy canes. Like really love candy canes.

And we have two of the books  I read this month that I really enjoyed and wanted to share.

The first is Kurt Vonnegut’s The Sirens of Titan all about life, space, love, money, power, it’s an amazing ride. Vonnegut has a very specific way of writing that is easy to read but extremely impactful. If you haven’t read any of his books I would seriously recommend it. He’s a brilliant man.

Next is for a very small niche, I am aware of that fact. But if you know me or have been reading my blog for a while you know that I have a deep deep love and respect for Shakespeare and that is what my thesis was on in college. So this book (fitting I think for the time we are in in America after the election) is Tina Packer’s Women of Will The Remarkable Evolution of Shakespeare’s Female Characters. It’s extremely captivating and genius. And as a proud feminist I really did find many of it enlightening and empowering for many different reasons.

And that’s really all I have been loving this month, taking care of my super dry skin and taking care of my mind! What have you been loving this month?? And good book recommendations??

Let me know!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

It’s the Holiday Season

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope that you are all having a great week!

Today is the dreaded (if you work retail especially) Black Friday. Last year was the first time I experienced Black Friday and it was to work not shop. In short it was hell. In retail you deal with a lot of horrible rude people but they all came out in full swing on Black Friday last year (and lets get real probably every year).

I have a degree in theatre and literature so we all know I can act my way out of most horrible situations with a smile on my face while I was working retail. But when the 12th hour hit on Black Friday I’ll admit I struggled to be nice to these people. Especially knowing I had another three hours left (the lovely perk of not having to work on Thanksgiving… you can’t see me as I right this but I’m rolling my eyes and groaning).

I guess the point of this post is a gentle reminder to be kind to one another. Especially with all the hate that is in the world especially now if you live in the United States.

So please be nice to the people you love, be super super nice to people working ridiculous hours so you can get amazing deals (I promise you none of them want to be there and you have the absolute most power to make their day).

Spread love and happiness and joy and kindness. The world needs it.

I love you all,

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

My Favorite Jewelry Designer!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week so far!!

Today I want to talk about one of my absolute favorite jewelry designers! The best part, is that they really aren’t too pricey. And they are beautifully hand crafted and made pieces. I honestly believe there is something there for everyone! I have personally bought three pieces from them and absolutely love them!

The company is called iB Designs (links below) and they are handmade from the Caribbean. The piece I most recently purchased is their Om ring!

If anyone knows me they know that I love jewelry, I always have. I used to and still do make my own, I was the Fine Jewelry Manager for Macys on Long Island and have even sold some of my own creations at markets in my hometown.

So I only thought it was about time that I shared some of that with you all! And lately I have been obsessed with this designer. Their pieces are sturdy and yet delicate at the same time. They are the nicest people to come into contact with, always willing to answer any questions, the turn around from purchase to arrive at your doorstep is only a couple of days and the pieces as I have said are stunning. They are so unique and classic at the same time.

I found out about them from one of my customers from Macy’s, she was a regular and I got to know her very well and one day I was helping her shop and I commented on her jewelry and told me about this company and one other and that is all she will wear. She went to the Caribbean on her honeymoon and now they always go back and she gets a new piece every time. She gave me the website (since we have similar taste in jewelry and was wearing a similar bracelet at the time) and I have never looked back haha!

Here is their website if you want to take a look!

They have everything from bracelets to rings to earrings and much more!

And that’s all I have for today! If you’re in America and celebrating Thanksgiving with your family and you are worried about this holiday season (like I am) I wish you luck, strength and that you are of age to drink!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Mini Mac Haul!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I was watching my usual YouTubers and Lily from Lily Pebbles and Ann from The Anna Edit and they had a Mac event and went shopping. Which of course, meant I had to as well. They both bought this eyeshadow and Lily bought the lipstick and watching both of them talk about the eyeshadow, I had to get it and the lipstick Lilly bought cause it’s right up my alley.

These two beauties are Mac’s Saddle matte eyeshadow and Spirit satin finish lipstick. Both I think are really nice for autumn!

I’m obsessed with these and I honestly don’t see me wearing any other lipstick than this for a very long time… I know big claim. But this is everything I look for in a nude. It’s brown but not too bold, it looks just like a brownier shade of my natural lip color so when it fades you can’t really tell, it smells amazing (come one who doesn’t love the scent of Mac lipsticks) and super comfortable to wear.

The eyeshadow, surprisingly I really love. Watching Anna wear it, I knew I would like it but I wasn’t sure if I could pull it off. But actually I really like it! I lately have just been taking a nice fluffy brush and putting it all over the lid and crease, popping on some mascara and I’m good to go! It’s a really nice rust brown shade that you can really build up, use as a wash of color or just have a light dusting like I do all over the lid. I have never used Mac eyeshadows before and so far they are amazing!

And that’s it! A short but sweet post! I haven’t tried a lot of Mac products before (first time I’ve used their eyeshadow) and really only use their lip liners and lipsticks. What are your holy grail items from Mac? Because I have a feeling I’m missing out on a lot of great products! Plus they have so much to choose from and I don’t know where to begin!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

The Balm Cosmetics!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! This weekend I had the pleasure of going to NYC with a dear dear dear friend of mine and after spending the day walking around some beautiful inspiring pieces of art, creating art of our own, being in that beautiful city we both call home, eating delicious food, having coffee and tea, walking around Bryant Park shops and finally feeling more hopeful and inspired we stopped into Duane Reade…

Now I was super excited she wanted to go to Duane Reade specifically because I know they sell Soap & Glory beauty products not just skin care… Needless to say I had an entirely different idea of what this post would be.

I was so super surprised to see that they sell The Balm Cosmetics… Which is a brand EVERYONE talks about but I have never been able to get my hands on it!! Well, today that is all different. And I have to say I am in love with everything I purchased.

Let’s start from left to right, quick disclaimer they were more expensive than I expected. Everything was under $20 but under $20 by like 2 or three dollars… But so far I am overall extremely pleased and impressed with how well these products last during the day.

This is their “The Schwing” eyeliner. It is super black, super fine and lasts all day. It did not budge on me at all and didn’t end up under my eye either. The brush is felt tip so it is super easy to apply and get a really precise line with! I’m super happy with it, and it reminds me of a cheaper version of the 24Hr Liner from Elizabeth Arden (which I also love but it’s pricey). Side note, I wish I did not have hands that constantly shake… My swatches always look so bad! Haha! Sorry for the crap eyeliner swatch!

Next up their “What’s Your Type Black Mascara” which could also be called “Tall Dark and Handsome” their packaging wasn’t super clear… But regardless it’s a plastic wand and doesn’t specifically say that it’s volumizing, and I wouldn’t say it’s the best volumizing mascara I have ever used but it’s actually not bad! It does get a bit clumpy, but I am a fan of that, it does a nice job at lengthening as well! I really am enjoying using this!! It doesn’t smudge or flake and holds a curl pretty okay considering none of their mascaras are waterproof (and we all know I love me some waterproof mascara). And my word does it come off at the end of the day like a dream!! I’m always jealous of people with gorgeous lashes that are regular formulas and how easy they have it when they take their makeup off at the end of the day haha!

And finally it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t pick up a lip product. Especially from a brand that gets so highly rated on their liquid lipsticks!! This is their “Meet Matt(e) Hughes” Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in the shade “Committed” which is their only nude shade. It’s a little more pink than I would like, but it’s super comfortable to wear, lasts really really well on the lips and smells to me, like Thin Mints the Girl Scout Cookie. So all in all, super pleased with this!

And that’s that! As usual spent more than I intended but I got distracted like always and now have new makeup to play with!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Lippies I’m Loving!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I’m sorry that there is only one post this week. But with the United States Presidential Election and they way it turned out, I spent my post election day standing up for what I believe in. I don’t want to talk about it in detail on my blog, because this isn’t what I created this for. But I do want to say to those reading if you are a woman, person of color, part of the LGTBQ+ community, immigrants, Muslims, or any one who our President Elect has offended, please know that I am your alley and I will fight as hard as I can for you and with you. And if anyone out there needs to talk, please please don’t hesitate. I’m extremely ashamed of my country and extremely terrified for my rights and the rights of my friends and family.

ANYWAY, let’s get on to two lip products that I have been absolutely OBSESSED WITH. Before you even go to look at the picture beneath these sentences I’m sure you know what colors they are… But they flatter my skin tones more than pinks and peaches!

In the pictures they look identical but when I show you the swatches they are different I promise!!!

This gorgeous product is the Giorgio Armani Beauty Lip Maestro in the shade 202. It’s a tad orange toned brown and in my opinion looks really nice on the lips. It also wears extremely well on the lips. It doesn’t feel like you are wearing anything at all, it is so lightweight and comfortable. It has stain like properties in it so it lingers on your lips after you’ve eaten or drank something (at least that is what I have noticed). It’s almost a whipped texture which is why it’s so lightweight and not wet at all. I really enjoy the staying power on this product. I absolutely think it’s worth the splurge and they have a nice selection of colors as well!

Finally we have the new lipstick range from MAC. This is their Liptensity in the shade “Doe”. A lot of people have been raving about this new launch and how pigmented and moisturizing this line is and i would have to agree. They are so super pigmented and extremely buildable as well. When I wear this one it is pretty much a more brown shade of my actual lip color, so unlike the Armani Lip Maestro this one is a more natural look. They smell great, they have INCREDIBLE staying power for just being a lipstick. They are super nourishing on the lips, they don’t slip around and overall I’m really happy with this purchase and would consider going back and getting other shades. I also LOVE the packaging. The downside is that they are more expensive than the other MAC lipsticks but only by $4 so not too terrible.

And that’s it! Those have been my go to lip choices for a while and I don’t see myself changing it up anytime soon!

What lip colors and products have you been loving lately?? I would love to know!!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Skincare Favorites!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you had a lovely week and are excited for the weekend! Today I wanted to share with you some skincare items that I have been using and loving lately!!

First up we have the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk. I love using this stuff at night to take off my makeup, I prefer the cleansing milk over the cleansing balm mostly because of the texture but both work incredibly well. I was reading the back a few days ago and it says to keep away from the eye area, which is confusing because it’s really good at removing eye makeup and my eyes haven’t been bothering me but I’ve been a bit more careful with it now. It still does a great job of removing my concealer and making my face feel so much cleaner and fresh.

Then we have the Bioré Baking Soda Cleansing Scrub. I use this after Clinique, this product is so cool, my best friend got me into this product! You pour the powder into your hands (about a quarter sized amount) add a bit of water and rub your hands together forming almost a paste and then wash your face. It is a scrub, but it’s such a gentle that you could do it every day (I don’t but I have other things in my routine that I switch out day to day). It’s a really fine scrub that just leaves your skin feeling so super clean and super refreshed.

And finally something that I use in the morning to help wake up. It’s everyone’s favorite, Bioderma Micellar Water (for Sensitive Skin) which I have been using very sparingly because we cannot get this in the States and it makes me sad. I picked this up in Canada and I can see why everyone loves it. It feels so nice and really takes off the makeup that might have not come off from the night before and just makes me skin feel so good. I have tried using this to take off my makeup and it does a decent job but I would follow it up with a makeup wipe to get the remainder off. I wish Bioderma was easier to get in the states!!

But there ya have it! 3 of my favorite skincare products that I use pretty much on a daily basis and have been really enjoying using! Let me know if you would like a more detailed skincare routine post or any post! What are some of your favorite skincare items??

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo
