Fiction Friday ~ Tess of the D’Ubervilles!!

Happy Friday everyone!! And welcome back to FICTION FRIDAY’S!!!! I don’t know about you but I am so happy to have it back! And today we are talking about my favorite Thomas Hardy novel, Tess!

Tess of the D'Ubervilles

I mean can we sense that I like strong female characters? Though characterized as a tragedy, Hardy writes the story of a young woman with her impoverished family in England. To quote David Gaelf, “Using rich poetic language to frame a shattering narrative of love, seduction, betrayal, and murder, Hardy tells the story of Tess Durbeyfield…” and I must agree that Hardy does just that using such gorgeous poetry. Published in 1891, the story takes part in seven different parts, which Hardy titles “Phases” and they flow beautifully.

This story of Tess is one of heartbreak and love and loss and without a doubt strength; in a time where women were so strong but not truly allowed to be. Tess gets thrown a lot of obstacles in her life and personally, I think she handles them with strength and grace. She takes the good and bad with dignity and lives without regret and has such faith in the world and life and love and herself.  Its a long read, but an amazing one at that, and extremely worth it in my mind. But then again, this is my favorite type of literature.

Let’s get to some of my favorite quotes:

~”Why didn’t you tell me there was danger in men-folk? Why didn’t you warn me? Ladies know what to fend against, because they read novels that tell them of these tricks; but I never had the chance o’learning in that way, and you did not help me!” -Phase the Second- Maiden No More, page 103

~”It was a passing summer love of her face, for love’s own temporary sake-nothing more.” -Phase the Third- The Rally, page 180

~”Could it ever be? Their two selves together, nothing to divide them, every incident shared by them; why not? And yet why?” -Phase the Fourth- The Consequence, page 245

Talking about books leaves me at a loss because these are just what I got from the book, it’s my opinions from my walk of life which is different from yours and I put my own life into the book and bring my own story to the characters. My usual instinct is to just tell people “Oh this book was phenomenal,  I loved it, you absolutely should read it”, which is why I started this series. To not only share my love of literature but to challenge myself to explain why I loved this book.

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

March Favorites!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! Like every month, I can’t believe it’s this time again! So let’s get in to some things that I have been absolutely loving this month!

March 2017 Favorites

Let’s start off with the largest item of my favorites this month and that’s my bullet journal! I started it in February and having a full month and a half of using it I am never going back. I absolutely love it! I love it because it allows me to be creative and use my “decent” drawing skills to make a planner and journal that I can tailor to my needs and allows me to change it up every month if I so choose! (Let me know if you want a full post about my bullet journal and how I use it and design it! I’m thinking of doing one because I really love mine haha)

Instead of going left to right, let’s go clockwise today! So up top we have the Burt’s Bees Lemon Cuticle Cream! I love this stuff and since I haven’t been getting my nails done since I don’t work in an environment that you have to be super well groomed for and it’s expensive haha! So with that being said, my nails have been struggling because they aren’t being taken care of on a regular basis. And this stuff has been saving my nails and especially my cuticles which are always a nightmare. It also smells great!

And if we haven’t guessed the next one yet by my like last three posts where I talk about it; it’s the Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in the shade “Fairly Light Neutral” my perfect shade and so far my perfect concealer. Bold claim, I know. But it’s true! This stuff is lightweight and light coverage if you want it to be, or you can build it up without the worry of feeling cakey and heavy. If you haven’t tried this concealer yet and looking for a new one to try, I highly recommend. And Tarte is just one of my favorite high end brands all around.

Next up we have a lip product (what would a monthly favorites be without a lip product??)! This is a lip balm from Aquaphor and it’s their Lip Protectant Repair and Protect with SPF. I’m a big fan of Aquaphor, it’s great. I used it all growing up with my eczema, for healing my tattoos, to help my super super dry skin and lips so when I saw this I had to pick it up and try it. I love it, it’s unscented and a bit lighter than Aquaphor normally which I really appreciate for the lips but it still gets the job done. My lips feel instantly smoother and hydrated and it’s a great base under lip sticks, lip liner, liquid lipstick you get the picture. Also, it has SPF, which is super important always but especially on your lips which you don’t always realize! So I’m a big fan!

Finally, we have the Real Techniques Mini Sponge that I bought from Walgreens a while ago! I am obsessed. It’s amazing and tiny and perfect for under the eyes and concealer as well as a tiny perfect match for my Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. As you guys know, I don’t wear foundation so big sponges are kinda difficult when you’re only applying concealer and don’t want it to get everywhere. This sponge is perfect and gives me the control to keep the concealer where I want it! And plus, it comes in a pack of two and is super cheap because it’s Real Techniques!

And that’s all I have been loving this month!! Let me know what you have been loving this month!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

What’s in my Birthday Travel Makeup Bag!!

Happy Friday everyone!! As you are reading this, it’s my birthday!!! And I am spending it with my Mom, best friend Kate and her family in Disney World! I hope you are excited for the weekend and had a great week!

Since it’s my birthday I figured I would upload my absolute favorite type of posts to write, read, watch videos and definitely my most searched! And that’s right! By the title, this is what I packed with my makeup wise for this trip to Disney!

Birthday Travel Makeup!

I think this is the least amount of products I have ever taken (now this does not include skincare or toiletries… Skincare wise I’m bring my Simple Face Wash, Estee Lauder Day Wear moisturizer and my Clinique take the day off makeup oil). I think it’s because I haven’t been wearing a lot of makeup lately which I have been loving! I’m trying to be more minimal in everything so streamlining my makeup was my number one and it makes getting ready so much easier!  Anyway… Let’s get into it!

Birthday Makeup Tools

Let’s start with the brushes I am bringing (and I apologize for how dirty they are, I wrote this awhile ago and I cleaned them before the trip haha)! We have the Real Techniques Mini Sponge which I have been absolutely loving! An E.L.F. (broken but still great) brush for setting powder and I believe this is their small concealer brush… I’ve talked about this one a lot so you can find it in another post pre-breaking haha! And finally another E.L.F. brush, one I do not think I can live without anymore, their pencil brush which I have also talked about in other posts before where I go more in detail. I love it, it’s amazing and perfect and we have a great relationship.

**Not pictured because I forgot are my all time favorite eyelash curlers from Suratt Beauty!!

Birthday Face Makeup

For face products I am bringing my Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in the shade “Fairly Light Neutral” I’m obsessed with this concealer, it stays put all day doesn’t crease and looks amazing! Which is exactly what I need in Disney, something that I do not have to worry about when I’m pulling 12-18 hour days riding roller coasters! And to set it I have my Make Up For Ever High Definition Pressed Powder in Translucent, I do miss my Laura Mercier one but this does the job very well (and look how cute and tiny it is!)!

Birthday Eye Makeup

For my eyes I have my trusty and old friend from Tarte their “Lights, Camera, SPLASHES” waterproof mascara for my birthday night (surprisingly I haven’t been wearing mascara at all lately and I have been enjoying but I want a little something more for my birthday night). My beloved Tattoo liquid liner from Kat Von D Beauty in the shade “Trooper” and another beloved eye pencil from MAC in the shade “Coffee” for basically the other days that aren’t my birthday night haha!

Birthday Lip Product

And can you believe your eyes??? Only ONE LIP PRODUCT!! WHO AM I??? I know, I’m freaking myself out too! I told you guys, streamlining my life! This is MAC’s Lip Pencil in the shade “Stone” which is a gorgeous gray toned nude (my favorite)! I chose this because it’s hot in Florida and I don’t want my lipsticks to melt and I don’t want to be bothered with a liquid lipstick for my night out with friends so lip pencil it is!

**Also not pictured because I was clearly not thinking straight when I took the pictures and wrote this post my lip balm which is the Aquaphor Lip Repair with SPF, I have been obsessed with this stuff it’ll be in my favorites!

And that is everything I have packed makeup wise for my trip! I hope you enjoyed it!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

March Ipsy Bag!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are having a great week so far! Today, a little late (thanks snowstorm Stella), we have my March Ipsy bag! Which I do have to say might be my favorite so far… Though the October one was pretty good…. ANYWAY!

March Ipsy Bag

Just look how cute and springy it is!! I love it!

So! First up was by First Aid Beauty, which is a brand I adore, and it’s their Ultra Repair Face Moisturizer! Which I have tried before and loved, and that’s impressive because my skin sis super dry and super sensitive but First Aid Beauty is so great for sensitive skin (at least for me).

Next from the brand Dirty Little Secret their blush in the shade “Kitty Pink! A brand I’ve never heard of before but the blush is a gorgeous peachy pink and absolutely perfect for spring!

Then, something I am super excited to try out from PUR Cosmetics, their Disappearing Ink 4-in-1 Concealer in the shade Light. It looks like it could be a great product and I am so excited to try it! (I’ll let you know how I get on with it)

And another product that I have raved about on here in a shade that I haven’t tried yet but looks gorgeous; from my beloved Tarte their Tarteist Lip Paint in the shade Rosé! We all know how much I love these… So I’m thrilled to try another shade! Which is a gorgeous pinky-nude another perfect color for spring!

Finally, we have a blending brush from Elizabeth Mott, another brand I haven’t heard of but the brush looks amazing. It’s super soft and looks like it will be a great crease brush and a general blending brush (especially if you are like me and are crap at eyeshadow and usually just wear one shadow and need to blend it out haha!).

And that’s everything I got in this month’s Ipsy bag! I’m super in love with mine this month! What did you get in yours?? I love reading what you guys got!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Favorite Face Masks!!

Happy Friday everyone!! And Happy Saint Patricks Day!! I know it’s not Fiction Friday and I miss it too, but I just haven’t read anything this week that I want to talk about, so with my trip coming up and other posts I want to write, the last Friday this month will be back to our regularly scheduled Fiction Fridays!

Today I want to talk about three face masks that I absolutely love and have repurchased a few times!

Favorite Masks

In no particular order, because I love them all for different reasons, we are just gonna start from left to right!

First up, we have the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask, a cult classic in charcoal mask/ beauty world. And for good reason, this mask really gets into those pores and cleans them out. It’s super cooling on the skin and when you take it off your skin feels cleaner, smoother and tighter. If you haven’t tried any masks from Origins, I highly recommend this one. My skin always looks so healthy after I use this one! This is their “travel” size and is about $17.

Second, we have from the brand Formula 10.0.6 their Pores Be Pure Skin Clarifying Mud Mask. This is just a nice quick mask that does exactly what it says it’s going to do. Like the Origins mask, your skin just looks healthy after and feels so clean and smooth. But unlike Origins, this is their “travel” size and is about $2… So I mean… C’mon. I’ve raved about this brand before but the price you just can’t beat!

And thirdly, we have a peel off mask from Boscia their Luminizing Black Mask. And like the name would suggest, my skin always looks so healthy and luminous after use. This one is a peel off mask, which is really fun and satisfying but my goodness it can get painful depending on how much you use and your skin. I’m super sensitive but can use this, I just get red for a while after I peel it off. After about 10-15 minutes my skin looks great!

And those are three of my favorite face masks! What are yours?? I absolutely love doing face masks and are always looking for suggestions!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Beauty Haul!!

Happy Wednesday everyone(Beware the ides of March!)!! This weekend, I got the last of my supplies for my trip that is next week (yay birthday!)! So of course, I had to share the beauty goodies I picked up!

Beauty Haul

As you can see… it’s a lot of Tarte… It’s been a while since I’ve used Tarte and I don’t know why because not only is it a cruelty free brand but it’s absolutely an amazing brand.

I picked up their Maracuja Creaseless Concealer in the shade “Fairly Light Neutral”, which I have never tried before and I wore it the other day and not only is it a PERFECT match, it wore all day and didn’t crease at all with incredible build-able coverage! I think I found a new favorite concealer… Bold claim, I know!

I then picked up the first “high-end” beauty product I ever bought which is Tarte’s “Lights, Camera, SPLASHES” waterproof mascara. This is just a great mascara, build-able volume, holds a curl, doesn’t flake, doesn’t smudge it’s great. Would definitely recommend if you haven’t tried it and looking for a new mascara.

I also, picked up my birthday gift from Sephora which is this adorable duo also from Tarte (I told you, it’s a lot of Tarte). It is one of their famous Amazonian Clay Blushes in the shade “Paaarty” and a mini Tarteist Lip Paint in the shade “Birthday Suit” both colors are exclusive to this birthday duo at Sephora. But I adore their lip paints and their blushes so I am super excited to wear them considering the colors are right up my alley… Beige-y toned nudes!

Finally I picked up from MAC one of their Lip Pencils in the shade “Stone” a gray toned beige/nude because I have a problem. The gray toned nudes have been my obsession lately and it would match so many of my gray toned nude lipsticks so I had to have it! Though I think I have a NYX Dupe… Gotta check that out and report back to you guys!

And that’s it! Next week, I’ll have my travel makeup bag for ya! Oh also! I am going to do only one more Fiction Friday this month, because I have too many other posts I want to post and I haven’t read any books lately that I want to talk about and share with you guys! They just weren’t up to par for me haha!

Until next  time,

Cheers! xoxo

Fiction Friday ~ Harry Potter!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you are all having a wonderful day and are excited for the weekend! I have some quite exciting plans this weekend and I’m undecided if I want to make a blog post about it yet… So who knows, next week might have a different blog post in store for ya!

This week I decided that I am going to get my life together through cleaning and reorganizing (it’s beginning to feel like spring so spring cleaning and what not) and with that I found my Harry Potter books (I say found but really I knew where they were on my book shelf but a book shelf that isn’t in my room). So I started to re-read them again for the millionth time and I wanted to share my love with you.

17203677_10211112561428397_37701722_n

I have always been that weird nerdy kid, so when Harry Potter came out, you best be sure that I was all over this series. I went to all the midnight book releases at Borders, went to all the midnight screenings of the movies, bought everything that had anything to do with Harry Potter. It was not only an amazing story but so incredibly written that it was such an easy escape because Jo did so much of the work in creating these worlds.

Harry Potter is something that is extremely dear to my heart, like it is for so many people. But I always cling to stories that are fanciful and magical because I want them so much to be real; just like I cling to science fiction.

Books, have always been there for me. When my Dad left I found solace in books, when I my depression and anorexia was at it’s height, books were my comfort and my escape. But something about Harry Potter became a safe place and to this day is still that safe place.

I mean like any art, it’s subjective; but I don’t know, if you haven’t read this series yet, give it a try.I feel like everyone has at least read it, seen the movies or tried to do either one and decided it wasn’t for them, so I’m not gonna sit here and explain the plot to you. Instead I thought I would share a safe place with you.

So here are some of my favorite quotes as always:

~”You’re a wizard Harry.” –Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

~”Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.” –Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone

~”We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” –Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

~”Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have.” –Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

~”Of course it’s happening inside your head, Harry, but why on Earth should that mean that it is not real?” –Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

~”All was well.” –Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo
