Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week! So the most exciting thing happened… A new Ulta store opened ONE TOWN OVER FROM ME!
My Mom and I are was too excited for it, of course we went to the opening! Our closest Ulta is a good half hour, forty-five minute drive away from us! This one is a dangerous 10 minute drive… So both of us went a little nuts and in honor of that let’s do an old school, “Amy’s Post Grad Path” haul post with pictures of every single product!
First up we have from Shea Moisture’s “Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Shea Butter Vegan Lip Balm” this is their “Replenish & Rejuvenate” one the display had four and the one I was really eyeing was all sold out so this was my runner up. It was about $4 and I’m always down to try new lip products especially vegan and cruelty free ones!
This Ulta stocks NUDESTIX and I am way too excited about it! This is their “Intense Matte Lip and Cheek Pencil” in the shade “Purity”. I love these. They are incredibly smooth and long lasting products in a gorgeous variety of shades. But of course I had to go for the your lips but better shade, leaning more towards a brown… I digress. This is an absolutely beautiful nude shade leaning more towards the brown side, so right up my ally.
I am super super excited to try this mascara. This is Benefit’s brand new mascara called their “Bad Gal Bang” mascara and it is getting a lot of attention. It has a cone shaped plastic wand and the before and after pictures look incredible. I cannot wait to give this a try.
Guys… I found a dupe for my beloved Mac “Coffee” eye pencil. I’m so excited. This beauty is NYX’s Eye and Eyebrow Pencil in the shade “SPE931 Black Brown”. It’s a great dupe and like $13 cheaper.I already love these eyeliners and I’m thrilled I found a dupe that is a great color match and cruelty free and super affordable.
And finally I picked up an oldie but a goodie. This is from Essence and it is their “Eyeliner Pen Waterproof” it’s a liquid liner that is a felt tip liner that for $2 does a darn good job. It’s super easy to work with and has decent lasting power. I’ve been itching to do liquid liner again but don’t necessarily want to shell out $20 right now for my beloved Kat Von D “Tattoo Liner”.
That’s everything that I picked up from Ulta this past weekend! I hope you have a great week!
Until next time,
Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week! Today I wanted to talk about something new (I know I’m reviewing new things again, I’m just as surprised) from one of my favorite brands Burt’s Bees!
This is their new “Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment” and I am absolutely obsessed with it. It has a delicious minty flavor but not as overpowering as their normal menthol chapstick!
For claiming to be such an intense lip treatment I was expecting a really thick product but I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on at night for the first time on how light it was. It honestly feels like their chapstick but not as waxy.
I’ve been sick for the last week, after traveling; as well as going from warm/hot Florida to very cold New York, my lips really took a toll. I kid you not, after the first night of this my lips looked like nothing was wrong with them. I was blown away. So yeah, obsessed is a bit of an understatement and I will be keeping this with me at all times.
It also has a partner in their new line and it is their “Honey Lip Scrub”. But I’m a little hesitant to try it because I like really gritty lip scrubs (like the ones from Lush) and usually lip scrubs that have honey in them tend to be not as intense and I’m not a fan of those haha!
What I also love about this product is the formula, so just because it’s marketed for “overnight” which works wonders overnight, I love that it’s still light enough to also use during the day!
Have you guys tried anything new lately? Let me know!! I’ve been itching to pick up some new things!
Until next time,
Happy Fiction Friday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week! Today I want to talk about yet another Kurt Vonnegut book.
This one is a bit different than the other Vonnegut books I have read. I read this on the plane to Florida and wow. More autobiographical and less fiction Vonnegut talks about the truths of life and if you love his work, by far one of his best because of how vulnerable it feels.
He goes on to discuss how insignificant our lives are in the grand scheme of things, but that doesn’t make our lives unimportant. Living life is awful at best, but there are some moments and some things that just make it all worth it. The book opens after the dedication with a sentence, “All persons, living and dead, are purely coincidental.” followed by the prologue and the last seven words of the first chapter “‘being alive is a crock of shit.'”
And if that isn’t classic Kurt Vonnegut than I don’t know what is. He talks about his life as an author, as a husband as a brother and as a father and all the people he met in between. Of all his stories and books, I find this one the most human. What I mean by that, I found Timequake the most vulnerable and honest about life and awful it can be and how okay it can be and how great it can be and how unimportant certain things are.
If you’re like me and kind of cynical, believe that in the grand scheme of things our lives are a pretty insignificant blip in history and the world, then this book is for you. And if you’re not like me and pretty optimistic and think that our lives are important I argue to read this because I think there is a really positive message in it for you too. Mostly to appreciate the little things because that is what makes life great.
Until next time,
