Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week! Today, I wanted to share with you what makeup I’m taking with me for my long weekend trip to Boston for my 25th birthday! So I guess it’s a birthday makeup/travel makeup post all wrapped up in one post!
I’m taking a bit more than my last travel makeup post, but it’s my birthday and I want options!
For face all I’m bringing is my beloved NYX Dark Circle Concealer Corrector in the shade “Light”, it doesn’t cover up my freckles but it makes my dark circles look less pronounced and not at all cakey!
I’m bringing two products for my eyes, my recent favorite NYX Eye and Eyebrow Pencil in the shade “SPE 931 Black Brown” which is a really nice pencil eyeliner that I tend to wear everyday that I wear makeup. But I also brought a liquid liner for my actual birthday cause I might want to be dressed up! So I brought with me from Essence their “eyeliner pen” in black and this is their waterproof one that personally is the best one and only one that works for me from this collection (I have super watery eyes and I feel like this one is a lot blacker than the non waterproof one).
For lips, I am bringing two products! I have fallen back in love with Make Up For Ever “Aqua Lip” in the shade “3C” which is the most perfect nude and the best pencil that I swear to you does not budge. I drank 3 cups of coffee, 1 cup of tea, ate Japanese food and it didn’t move. And for my birthday night in case I want to step it up I’m bringing a liquid lipstick from Pixi by Petra in the shade “Matte Beige” this is their MatteLast Liquid Lip and I haven’t tried it yet but have only heard great things and I love Pixi anyway!
Finally I am bringing the Urban Decay “All Nighter” setting spray and the best pencil sharpener on the market by Anastasia Beverly Hills, because you have to bring a sharpener when your two most used beauty products are pencils! I’m also bringing the Bite Beauty “Agave Lip Mask” as my lip balm for nighttime because this stuff is the absolute best and it’s still snowing here in the North East, so my lips need a miracle.
And that’s everything I am bringing with me for my birthday trip this year! I hope you have a great weekend!
Until next time,
Happy Wednesday everyone!! I know I missed February’s Ipsy bag, it was a short weird month with a lot happening work wise all I know is that I wasn’t thrilled with February’s bag and I am sad to say looking at March, I am not that thrilled with it again.
Starting off with what I do LOVE is the theme this month; create. The bag came with two markers that you can color the bag in with and we know I’m all about that! I also love the design of the bag, outlines of all different women. (Happy Belated International Women’s Day!) So lets, jump right in!
I’m going to start with a product I’m actually looking forward to trying, which is from Tarte. It’s their “Sex Kitten” black pencil eyeliner, I love the packaging and it’s hard to really get eyeliner wrong so I’m always thrilled to have mini eyeliners lying around since I do a lot of traveling!
Next we have a loose eyeshadow from the brand Sinister in the shade “Furless”, which is a greenish bronze pigment. And I’m not gonna lie, it looks super dark and dark dirt kind of colors with my dark hair and dark eyes doesn’t work. So I can tell you know, I’m probably going to give it to a friend cause I know I’m not going to like how it looks on me. On the plus side, it is a cruelty free product!
The final product for makeup in this bag is a lipliner from the brand Contour Cosmetics, in “No.3 Stud”. Now I’m not gonna lie, I hate the packaging. It’s extremely hard to read, its a gold tube (nice) but very pale pink lettering on the lid that says “CONTOUR” and then super tiny underneath “cosmetics” now because of that I thought it was a skinny contour stick since I couldn’t see the cosmetics. I didn’t know it was a lip liner until I read the SUPER TINY black lettering on the main part of the tube. I feel like if it wasn’t as reflective I would be drawn to this product more. But it legitimately hurts my eyes to look at it.
First up for skin care is something from the brand Skin&Co Roma and it’s their Whipped Cleansing Cream. It’s pretty self explanatory, cruelty free and as always I’ll give it a go and hope it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin.
And our last product is from Skyn Iceland and it’s their “Pure Cloud Cream” which doesn’t irritate my skin and my skin has been so dry lately so maybe this will help! I’ve tried Skyn Iceland before and liked them. I do enjoy the name of the cream “pure cloud” so I’m hoping its a light cream that sinks in quickly without feeling greasy. And then it will definitely be a winner in my book!
That’s everything this month! What did you get in your bag? Did you like it this month?
Until next time,
Happy Fiction Friday everyone!! Today, I wanted to talk about the show I am currently working on! I am directing School House Rock Live! Jr. at an elementary school near where I live, I am beyond thrilled to get to direct again and I thought I would share some thoughts on it as we are in our second week of rehearsal!
I have about 32 kiddos in my class (they are fifth and sixth graders) and they honestly all blew me away at auditions. They were so incredibly talented all of their song choices were phenomenal and they all sounded beautiful.
Now we are into my favorite part, table reads. Table reads are great because we finally get to dive in and get a sense of who we are as characters and who we are as a cast. We start the very beginning stages of finding our identity. I was so proud of my kiddos as I was talking about intention and wants, that they all were able to come up with a want for their scene.
What I mean by that is as your character knowing why you are in the scene (besides “because the script says it”) and what you want to leave the scene with (do you want an answer to a question? Do you want to convince someone something? etc.) and then we talked about how you obtain what you want.
Though kids drive me through the roof; I’m really impressed (when they’re listening and behaving, which incase you were wondering only happened once so far *eye rolls*) that they were thinking and had answers for me of what they wanted and how they were going to get it.
As much as I don’t really enjoy children, getting to work with them and watching them fall in love with theatre and discover something new inside them is such a rewarding thing to watch. Theatre and any type of art is so extremely important in a child’s development, especially emotional development, and I’m so lucky and honored to get to work in a district that understands theatre’s value and importance.
The fun part is I get to listen to “Conjunction Junction”, “Interjections” and “Interplanet Janet” all day, which I have zero complaints of cause I love it. I was so surprised how many kids already knew most of the songs! I mean I know how popular School House Rock is but I was nervous that its too old, I was pleasantly surprised and the kiddos are LOVING it, which is amazing. Seeing them realize you don’t need to do the silly Peter Pan or Annie Jr to do a show and can do something more unconventional is such a great feeling coming from a Liberal Arts degree and being exposed to more off the beaten path shows!
Until next time,
Happy Wednesday everyone!! I know it’s been a while but I hope you are all well and are enjoying your week! If you’re in the North East, I hope you are staying warm, its quite cold up here in NY and I would really like the snow to stop haha!
But anyway, to brave the cold I decided to place an order from Glossier and as always I am not disappointed!
I picked up their Priming Moisturizer, which I have yet to try and now that I have I don’t know why I haven’t tried it sooner. It is super lightweight (a tad greasy but when it sinks in my skin feels so soft) but does an AMAZING job. I know this product is a bit divided, either you love it or you hate it. And for someone who has dragon skin and hates the feeling of lotion this product is magic. My dry patches on my cheeks are gone and my skin looks healthier.
Next I picked up their Coconut Balm Dotcom, I have had the mint one before and it was the best thing ever and now I am OBSESSED with the coconut one and I will never be without it. I refuse to part with it. This stuff is seriously amazing and works wonders on everything, especially my lips and cuticles. And it smells HEAVENLY.
Finally I picked up their new Glossier You Perfume Solid, I’m super picky with fragrance. I usually stick to my Armani “Si”, which is completely different from the Glossier perfume. This one is super floral and light and I wasn’t sure I’d like it but I really do and I think it’s perfect for the spring and summer months (if they ever decide to show up). I also love that it’s a solid formula, it lasts super well on the skin and it is just a cool compact and I’m really happy with the outcome of the gamble of buying fragrance online without smelling it. The compact itself is also super weighty and metal that I was not expecting but it fits so nicely in your hand with the indent for your thumb to swivel it open to use. Once again Glossier does not disappoint when it comes to packaging.
And that is everything that I ordered from Glossier this time! I’m already thinking of what my next order will be… I’m thinking I need a repurchase of their concealer, lipstick and their new eyeshadow…
Until next time,
