Spending Christmas Gift Cards!! (Ulta and Sephora)

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are having a great week so far! Last weekend I went shopping and spent some of my gift cards that I got for christmas this year and as always I thought I would share!!

xmas haul 2018

Let’s start left to right shall we?

Before we start I want to mention that the Urban Decay mini Primer Potion and the mini Origins treatment lotion were freebies I got from Ulta and Sephora respectively.

First up we have from Anastasia Beverly Hills I picked up their liquid lipstick in the shade “Stripped” which looks very pink in the bottle (but trust me it’s a light nude brown). I also picked up a liquid lipstick from Dose of Colors in the shade “Knock on Wood” which is a true medium brown. Both liquid lipsticks are matte and both are shades I haven tried before! I have tried the ABH formula before and I am a fan of it being super lightweight and long wearing but I haven’t tried anything from Dose of Colors before so I’m excited to give it a try!

Next up I picked a mini of the new Milk Makeup Kush Mascara because I have heard good things about it and I do enjoy Milk Makeup products, that aisle of doom gets me every time…

I then picked up a repurchase of my favorite and only perfume that I wear from Giorgio Armani in “Si” it’s my favorite scent I’ve gone through two bottles and one roller ball. This is nice because it’s actually a spray bottle!

I then picked up a mini size of the LaVanila The Healthy Deodorant because everyone always raves about this one and I haven’t given it a go yet because it’s kind of on the expensive side, if it works awesome! If not I have other natural deodorants that I’ve found that work for me.

Finally, my favorite product from this haul, so much so that I couldn’t wait to us it and it’s wonderful. I am a big fan of Mario Badescu products and this Ulta that I went into had the entire line on their back wall, I was in ABSOLUTE heaven. So I picked up their Ceramide Herbal Eye Cream for “tired” eyes and all skin types. It’s a thick green almost jelly/cream and it’s magic. I take a small amount (smaller than you think) and massage it between my two ring fingers and it becomes almost an oil. It’s the only eye cream that I’ve found that I actually see a result from. It was extremely affordable for an eye cream and I’m HOOKED.

And that’s everything! Phew! That was a lot haha! I haven’t spent this much money on makeup since like 2017! It was really fun to not need anything and browse the store and pick up whatever I liked!

Until next time,

Fiction Friday ~ An Absolutely Remarkable Thing

Happy Fiction Friday everyone!! Today I want to talk about a book that I have a lot of feelings on… And that is Hank Green’s debut sci-fi novel An Absolutely Remarkable Thing.

an absolutely remarkable thing

Basically my feelings on this book are all personal; with that being said if you love science fiction you will love this book, if you love fiction you will love this book, if you love reading that captures your imagination and pulls you in from page one until you’re flipping the pages manically wanting more you will love this book.

Aliens, being an adult not sure where to go with her life and relationship, fame, fortune, humanity and so much more is in store for you.

When I really love a story I know it because I force myself to put the book down. I want to savor the story and extend it for as long as possible. I don’t want this world the author created and I’ve taken to to end. It took me three days to finish this book (the size and material of this book would take me a few hours) even though I wanted nothing more than to consume it the moment I got my hands on it. It’s captivating, horrifying (because of how truthful it is) and funny. Basically, you should all read this book, I promise you, you’ll love it.

Now, for my own ego we’re gonna dive into the personal reasons why I loved this book. But hey, it’s my blog so isn’t this what we’ve all signed up for? ANYWAY…

There has only been one other book that I’ve read in my life that when I read it I KNEW I had to be the one to tell this story (when they make it into a movie). That book was the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson, which my junior high English teacher told me to read because I would love it, she was right.

From page one of Hank Green’s book I’ve had the feeling that I need/have to be the actor to tell this story. I know it sounds ridiculous but have you ever had that feeling when you come across something so special that you have to be a part of it? Like it’s part of your destiny and/or much bigger than yourself but yet yourself is a piece of it? That’s how I feel about this book. I don’t think I can explain it, or I’ve explained it well. But when and if they make this novel into a movie, I hope to the Universe I can make it to that audition. Because this story is so so special and April May deserves to have someone to do her justice, and I really truly believe that that person is me.

So Hank, if you’re reading this please know that I love your story and I believe it to be something special. And if you give the rights of your story away to a movie studio, please throw my name into the audition pool.

If you’ve read all of that, thank you. You didn’t have to and I don’t blame you if you didn’t. All in all, I love this book and everyone should read it.

Until next time,

Another Glossier Haul!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week so far! I know we’re all surprised here that I purchased more things from Glossier and as always I thought I would share!

Glossier Haul 12:18

So let’s start with the Glossier Stretch Concealer. I have loved this concealer for a while now but sometimes I would choose something else, I now realize it’s because I had the wrong shade.
I purchased one shade deeper “Medium 20” and let me tell you, IT’S MY PERFECT MATCH. And now I do not want to use anything else. I love this concealer, it has my perfect amount of coverage for me. It’s lightweight, covers my bags but without being heavy, sticky, creasing, drying or irritating. It lets my freckles come through and I love it. If you couldn’t tell haha! A lot of people are hit or miss with Glossier and I happen to one of the people who love them.

I also bit the bullet and purchased their jumper. And oh my goodness let me tell you it is the most comfortable, softest jumper I own. I never want to take it off, it’s pretty pricey but I had a coupon so since I’ve been eyeing it I thought I treat myself for Christmas. I’m so glad I did.

Finally I got (with a purchase over $50) I free compact mirror. Now, I don’t know how long the promotion lasts (it still might be on when this goes up) but if it’s no longer a promotion the mirror and bag it comes in is $10. It’s a bit big and it doesn’t have protection for the mirror (mine’s already marked up from traveling to my house) but I love the little version of their classic pink bag and it is a good size for traveling maybe not your purse (definitely too big for my tiny crossbody bags).

And that’s all I got this time! I’m overall THRILLED with my purchases and can’t wait to get great uses out of the products!

Until next time,

New Year, Same Me

Happy New Year everyone!! 2019 is here and I must admit I’m quite excited for 2018 to be over.

I’m not one to make New Year goals, mostly because I feel a lot of the time its the same thing of “I want to work out more or go on a diet” and that sort of thing which I never stick to and really who does?

But last year and the year before I started making little goals, three years ago I told myself I wanted to start blogging the next year and every year since I started this blog one of my goals is to keep it up.

I like setting achievable goals and little goals because I don’t like setting goals I know I’m not going to stick to and give up and then just feel bad about myself. So this year I thought I would share with you my 2019 goals!

~ Stick to my blog schedule (twice a week)
~ Get into and start Graduate School (I’ve applied and now nervously waiting to hear)
~ Put money into my savings account every paycheck even if it’s $10 (living paycheck to paycheck is really hard and I’ve slipped on my savings lately which stresses me out)
~ Try to create a capsule wardrobe (I have so many flipping clothes that I don’t need and it causes so much anxiety for me, I don’t like clutter)
~ Create a routine that I can stick to when working all of my jobs at the same time (ex. sleeping schedule, eating schedule, making time for Mom and Jason, making time for myself so I don’t burn myself out)

~And lastly, MOVE. (Hopefully this year Jason and I will finally be moving out of NY and moving in together)

And those are the goals I am setting for myself in 2019! Some little, some big but personally I believe are all realistic goals for me to set.

I hope you all have a happy healthy New Year, I’m excited for 2019 to begin and I hope you are too!

Until next time,
