New Job, New Start!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I have been super busy this week and lost track of everything since really starting my new job. I hope your week has been wonderful and have some fun things planned for the weekend! I know mine will be spent sleeping and grateful that I will not smell like coffee for a few days.

Every time I start a new job I always try to remind myself to be nice to myself. I constantly am disappointed in myself because I am new and don’t know my way around the store, the company, the people and the job itself.

So be kind. Be kind to yourself.

Because currently, I am learning a new skill as a barista and it’s hard. There are a lot of things to consider and a lot of things to juggle. And while eventually I will get the hang of it; I am constantly annoyed with myself that I don’t have it down yet. I have been at this job for two weeks and in those two weeks I have worked six shifts.

Be kind to yourself.

You’re new, you’re learning, be patient, be kind, ask questions, ask for help. I promise you your new coworkers will gladly help you, as well as your boss. They were in your shoes once before too.

I’m very lucky, my coworkers are incredibly kind and incredibly reassuring and patient with me and it has made all of the difference.

With this job comes great benefits and a decent paycheck, allowing me to get back into my passion and my field of acting. I’m getting everything set up and hopefully I will be able to land some dream jobs!

But please remember:

~ Be kind to yourself
~ Be kind to others
~ Take your time
~ Be patient
~ You’ll get to where you need and want to be
~Nothing worthwhile comes easy.

Until next time,
Cheers! xoxo

Mini Ulta Haul!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week! I’m in my second week at my new job as a Barista and I am exhausted… But ANYWAY let’s get on to a good old haul!

Ulta NYX Essie Haul

So, of course I only needed two things but with Ulta and their great sales I had to partake especially when a new lipstick is launched!

The main reason for this trip was to get a cuticle oil! I love my Burt’s Bees one but I used it all up and I thought I would try something new! So I picked up from Essie, their Apricot Cuticle oil. Since I am a Barista I can’t have anything on my nails but I still want to maintain them and look nice since I am serving drinks and food! And so far, I like it! My cuticles looked nourished and the oil sinks in pretty quickly!

Now, since it’s Ulta they had a buy one get one 50%… I wanted to pick up a setting spray since we are getting into the summer months and to be completely honest I had powder; my skin is dry and it just always makes it look worse.

I picked up their Matte Finish Long Lasting Setting Spray, I have been using it for about two weeks now and I really like it. I don’t know if I would say it keeps me matte all day but it definitely makes my make up last a lot longer!

And then I saw these new lipsticks from NYX, which is their Soft Matte Lipstick. So basically their Soft Matte Lip Cream but in a lipstick. So of course I LOVE IT and am obsessed. It lasts super well, super comfortable, super moisturizing, super shade range (though not as large as the Soft Matte Lip Creams but it’s new so I’m gonna give it some time haha!) and easy to apply! I picked up the shade “SO3 Bed-Stuy Babe”.

And that’s all she wrote!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Fiction Friday ~ “How Shakespeare Changed Everything”!!

Happy Fiction Friday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great week and are excited for the weekend!

How Shakespeare Changed Everything

Today, I wanted to talk about this lovely book about not only the importance of Shakespeare but in very simple ways shows us how Shakespeare shaped the world we live in in the past, present and future.

Stephen Marche makes Shakespeare seem less daunting and more colloquial.

To me, we all know by now, how much I love and live for Shakespeare. I spent two years studying him and I absolutely love everything about him and his genius.

But if you’re someone who finds Shakespeare stupid or useless or daunting or want to know more about his impact than his life or don’t believe he has an impact; then you should one hundred percent read this book.

It is absolutely incredible and such an easy great read!

Here are some great quotes from the introduction to get you started!

~ “When you become familiar with Shakespeare, you see him everywhere.” -Page 11

~ “If a kid doesn’t care about Hamlet or Macbeth or Othello, he or she is probably never going to care about any character in any book ever.” Page13

~ “All that strange power, all his world-shaking, reality-transforming impact begins from a simple but mysterious truth: His stories sound good to everybody.” -Page 15

~ “Shakespeare held up the mirror to nature….” -Page 18

~ “‘Othello has made me free,’ Paul Robenson said. But from what? The ground keeps falling out from under us. Only Shakespeare keeps landing on his feet.” -Page 21

It’s a great read and if you already love Shakespeare then you’ll love this book and love Shakespeare even more.

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

May 2017 Ipsy Bag!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you had a great weekend! While you’re reading this, I’ll be on my second shift at my new part time job (hopefully it’s going well, this is being written a week in advance and haven’t started yet so we’ll see! Any positive thoughts and vibes sent my way are greatly appreciated!).

I must say, my Ipsy bags are getting really good, if you get Ipsy bags and feel like they aren’t tailored enough for you and you’re getting stuff that isn’t really up your street and have no interest in trying, my biggest tip is a week or so after you receive the bag review it. I didn’t do that for the first few months of getting it and I was like “eh this is okay” or “ugh I won’t use anything in this bag”. But after reviewing it and saying what I loved, liked, and didn’t like at all it’s getting more personal and I’m really enjoying even more now!

And that’s my tip for the day, now let’s get into the bag!

May 2017 Ipsy Bag

This months theme is summer with an adorable makeup bag with ice cream and popsicles on it!

Starting off with a product from Urban Decay, their After Glow 8 Hour Powder Highlighter in the shade “Sin” which is a gorgeous champagne color. People have raved about this powder highlight, and surprisingly I’m super excited to try it now that it’s getting sunnier and warmer out! I think it would also look super pretty on the eyes for summer as well!

Next we have something from the brand Pūr~lisse, their Tinted Moist BB Cream with SPF 30. It says it will give you “natural looking coverage, flawless finish, for all skin types, even sensitive”, so I am interested to see how this works out for me and my skin. For the summer with SPF 30, that’s pretty high for a BB Cream (that I’ve seen), the ingredients look nice and it’s made in Korea (#hometown) so I’m excited for this too!

The next two products are a toss up for my favorite from just looking at them this month:

Something from Pixi by Petra, which I am THRILLED about, their Endless Silky Eye Pen in the shade Black Noir. I have been wanting to try more from Pixi but it’s hard to get my hands on them since my Target doesn’t stock them! I have also been looking for a new black pencil because I don’t think I like my NYX one right now so I’m real excited to give this a whirl!

Then we have something from the brand Hey Honey, their Bésame Mucho Shea Butter & Propolis Lip Balm for dry and chapped lips. This smells amazing, I have never heard of this brand before but from the packaging and the smell I’m excited. We all know my love of lip balms and lip products.

And lastly we have a Precision Angled brush from the brand Royal & Langnickle. Shocker, another brand I have never heard of but the brush is gorgeous and so soft.

And that’s everything! I think thus far this is one of my favorite bags. I know I say that every month but what I love about this bag is that all of the products and brands you see this month (in my bag at least) they are all cruelty free and do not test on animals. I can’t remember what post I said it in, but I am trying to only use makeup that is cruelty free and it makes me happy that this month was all cruelty free!

(Also, if you have suggestions for cruelty free skin care let me know!! I’m struggling to find stuff that works for me in that department!)

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Fiction Friday ~ “Amélie” on Broadway!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope your week is going wonderfully! Today, I wanted to talk about a show I saw on Broadway last week with my Momma.

Amélie a new musical

Based on the movie AmélieAmélie a new musical, is about a girl named Amélie an introverted dreamer who upon finding a previous owner’s hidden treasure in her apartment decides to be a selfless do-gooder in the world.

This is one of my absolute favorite movies of all time. It’s a beautifully uplifting, hopeful story and the movie is shot so artistically and very French, which I adore (I spent 6 years studying French and love the language and culture).

I was a bit nervous and very excited to see how they would fit a two hour movie that focuses on tiny details into a theatrical experience. I was nervous that they would leave important tiny details out or forget things.

I have never been more pleased with an adaptation than I have with this musical. The music is stunningly gorgeous, the script was practically perfect, the set was so detailed and beautifully, the acting was impeccable (not surprising because Phillipa Soo is incredible) I was truly impressed and so so happy to be in that theatre.

I was just so happy. This show makes you happy. This show makes you want to do good. This show makes you want to get up and spread kindness into the world. This show, is exactly what we need, especially in America.

I’m heartbroken that it is closing on May 21st, but so beyond grateful that I was able to see my favorite movie brought to life in the most beautiful way that left me in tears from curtain rise to curtain fall.

Momma&Me

Here’s a horrible picture of Momma and I in our seats at the show! Luckily she doesn’t read my blog and won’t see that I put this photo on the internet because she had a cold when we saw it, what a trooper!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

L’Oréal Paris Air Dry It!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all having a great day and week thus far! Today I wanted to share a new hair care find that I have been using for a week or two now, and have absolutely loved it.

L'Oréal Air Dry It

We all know that I love the Bumble and Bumble (H)Air Dry cream, I’ve spoken loads about it on this blog haha! But the travel size is $15 and as someone who does not blow dry her hair and once in a blue moon I may curl my hair (though last time I curled my hair was Christmas last year) I would go through the Bumble and Bumble cream so ridiculously quickly. Until now!

This is by L’Oréal Paris and it’s their Air Dry It Undone Styling Cream. AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. After using this for a while my hair was not frizzy and my natural wave was enhanced in the most gorgeous way.

It really made me wonder why it took me so long to find this. It also made me wonder if the Bumble and Bumble cream actually did anything to my hair… Because after the first use when my hair did finally dry there was zero frizz to be found. And my hair was still super frizzy after using Bumble and Bumble.

Oh, and the best part? It smells wonderful and 10x better than Bumble and Bumble. And yeah it’s about $4.99 at Ulta.

So if you’re like me and don’t use heat on your hair but your hair could be looking a bit less frizzy I highly recommend you give this a go! And it won’t break the bank!

Until Next Time,

Cheers! xoxo

Fiction Friday~ The Princess Diarist!!

Happy Friday everyone!! Happy Revenge of the Fifth and a belated May the 4th Be With You! Today I wanted to talk about one of my favorite movie franchises, favorite character, favorite actor/human being: Carrie Fisher, also known to some as Princess Leia.

The Princess Diarist

Not only is the novel brilliant because Carrie was a brilliant writer but the novel is brilliant as a huge fan of the movies and being able to relive the movies through the eyes of my favorite character in the films.

Throughout this book Carrie talks about making the films and what it was like to be so young and dealing with all of these adult responsibilities and dealing with life in general. Carrie Fisher kept journals of her time and this novel shares her journal from filming the first movie Episode IV A New Hope. She gives us some information before we jump into her journal and then some stories about life after the journal.

I read it in one night because, well, I do that with most books but the way Carrie writes, it feels like a conversation and I didn’t want to be the one who ended that special conversation. So I couldn’t, nor did I want to, put it down.

Any of her books are a great read and I highly recommend any of them. And as always here are some of my favorite lines from the book…

~ “So I did it like that, more sardonic than emotional. Fearless and like an actual human, but not serious. Ironic. Some chick from Long Island who’s not scared of you or anyone you might know.” -page 44

~ “I am the only one who can come to my rescue. I am the only one who can help me now.” -page 126

~ “You see I thought I was only seeing half the man But that was all there was to you… You took my breath away And now I want it back” -page 133

~ “I wish I could go away somewhere but the only problem with that is that I’d have to go, too.” -page 178

I still love Carrie Fisher to this day, I always will. She was who I aspired to be when I was a little girl. I didn’t want to be Cinderella, or Snow White (I did want to be Belle, but it was a really hard choice) I wanted to be Princess Leia. She was tough, strong, kind, sarcastic, independent and so intelligent. She was the only princess I ever dressed as for Halloween for several consecutive years, I might add. Mostly because my hair did the classic buns on their own  with my thick hair haha!

I grew up in a family of Science Fiction loving parents and they made sure I did too, and I’m so glad they did.

May The Fourth Be With You

Until next time,

May the Force Be With You
