July 2017 Ipsy Bag!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope your week is going well! I’m working crazy shifts this week so not only do I smell of coffee more than normal but I am exhausted haha! But enough of that, let’s get into my July Ipsy bag!!

July 2017 Ipsy Bag

I really enjoyed the collab this month with Gudetama! The bag is absolutely ADORABLE and the products are fantastic!

We have:
~A crease brush that is super soft from IBY Beauty
~A Jasmine Waterful Sleeping Pack, which is basically a moisturizing sleeping mask from the brand, BRTC (I think? I’ve never heard of it). Sounds super cool though!
~The cutest packaging ever from trèStique with their Mini Concealer Crayon in the shade “Porcelain”. Fun fact when I got this in the mail, I thought the cap came off lol!
~A mini Deep Dive Cleansing Gel from Tarte from their Rainforest of the Sea collection, I know I love this collection already and SUPER DUPER excited to try out the cleansing gel!
~Finally another eyeshadow from Ofra Cosmetics! Which I do love, they are such great shadows! I think this is the shade “Victory” though I am not 100% sure, but it is a gorgeous gold shimmery shade! And I love it.

And that’s all she wrote! Did we get similar products this month?? Let me know!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Fiction Friday ~ To Say Nothing of the Dog!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying your week! Traveling means I get a ton of reading down and this trip I went back to a book I’ve had for awhile but only my second time reading it and it was just as good as I remember…

To Say Nothing of the Dog

By Connie Willis, this novel is a great piece of fiction that my little sci fi heart wishes to be true. A place where time travel is the norm and where our main character travels in time constantly for work trying to find an artifact while making sure you know, you keep history as history should be… Which is always easier said than done when it comes to time travel.

Our main character Ned Henry as it says on the back cover “is badly in need of a rest” and I feel like that is the understatement of the century. After doing more jumps in time than anyone is allowed to and then some, Ned is starting to feel the affects of excessive time travel to the body. But sadly for Ned that doesn’t mean he can stop.

I first heard of this book from John Green, author, Vlogbrother, and he recommended it on some video a long time ago when he was giving a Christmas gift guide for buying books and this one jumped off his list to me and rightly so, right up my alley!

This book is gripping from page one until the end. It is very hard to give more details about this book without ruining the plot and all the juicy stuff but if you love time travel and history and all things science fiction then I highly suggest you give this book a nice good read!

A short post today but,

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Knowing When to Unplug!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are enjoying your week! I am back in New York after the best four day vacation in the world. And I wanted to talk today about the importance of knowing when you need to unplug and disconnect from the world for a bit. Because I came back from this trip feeling recharged and ready to take on the world; and I was only gone for four days.

Ever since my breakdown that caused me to quit the worst job in the world, I have felt uninspired and stuck beyond belief. Normally, I’d deal with it by surrounding myself with people who are like minded, but my two best friends live in Florida and Connecticut, where I live I have my Mom (which I am so thankful for).

It’s really hard to stay inspired and motivated when your support system is hundred(s) of miles away. Even though, with social media and how easy it is to stay connected to one another (I do not go a single day without texting, Facebook messaging, and Snapchatting my best friend Sara) it also makes it super easy to compare yourself to others you see.

So from July 4-8th I went to Florida to visit my best friend Sara for her 24th birthday. I didn’t really talk to anyone, the only text messages I received were from my Mom and my group text I have with my coworkers (which I didn’t respond to). Because I haven’t seen my best friend since MY 24th birthday, we weren’t on our phones, we were catching up and playing with her puppy and just relaxing.

And it was exactly what we both needed.

I’m back in NY and I have so many ideas for this blog and posts I want to write, I’m excited to go back to work and see my coworkers and just have fun at a silly job that doesn’t matter.

Most importantly, I’m ready to get back to my art. And start my life as an artist again. I lost my way, but I’ve found my way back. I started booking auditions, and I even booked a job for a show in August.

And I feel amazing.

So my suggestion to you, dear dear reader, if you ever feel stressed or lost or on a verge of a breakdown or breaking down, unplug. Turn off your phone. Surround yourself with people who lift you up and support and love you, or hide away and read a good book maybe a new one or an old favorite or a rediscovery.

Take time for you.

Because no one else will.

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

P.S. Here is a picture of Sara and I, where I couldn’t stop smiling genuine smiles for four days straight. Thank you Sara, I love you so so much.

What’s in My July Travel Makeup Bag!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you had a lovely week and a lovely Fourth of July! I am currently in Florida celebrating my best friends 24th Birthday (Which is today so HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARA!!!!!) and it’s been just the best!

And of course, with another plane journey comes another post about what I am bringing in my travel makeup case! These are my favorite posts and videos to read/watch (I’m super nosey) and they are my favorite posts to write! So let’s get right to it!

Travel Makeup July

For this too quick trip to Florida I am bringing:

~Lucas Papaw Ointment (obviously, my saving grace never leave home without it)
~Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black (I got in an ipsy bag and really love it and a great mini size)
~NYX Suede Matte Lip Liner (in the shade ‘Brooklyn Thorn’ a lovely gray brown color)
~Kat Von D Lock-it Makeup Setting Mist (never tried before and this is the mini, but I love Kat Von D and all her products so I am sure it will be brilliant)
~Kat Von D Lock-it Concealer in the shade ‘L7 Warm’ (which I just got and am loving)
~Real Techniques Concealer Brush (also just picked this up and am loving it)
~Nest perfume in the scent ‘Black Tulip’ (a mini that smells super fresh and summery)
~Anastasia Beverly Hills pencil sharpener (the best sharpener I’ve ever used)

And that is everything that I brought for this trip! Super simple, quick makeup, that I know will last and won’t need looking after. Its super hot and gross in Florida (yay summer) and I do not enjoy the feeling of sweating off my makeup haha!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

New Favorite Jewelry Piece!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you are all doing well! Today I wanted to talk about a new piece that I’ve recently added to my jewelry collection and briefly mentioned in my June Favorites, that I am absolutely in love with!

It’s from the brand Mejuri, which I have ordered from before and I am so blown away by them every time! They are such a great brand, super great shipping, amazing unique pieces, impeccable quality, made with such love an attention to detail! Also their packaging is so incredibly thoughtful and gorgeous! It really feels like Christmas when your piece arrives!

Look at that wrapping! And a note card handwritten with my name! I was so impressed and touched with all of these tiny details that Mejuri puts into their products!

And once you unwrap the gorgeous bow and take your piece out of the little dust bag, inside was my beautiful ring that I have not taken off since it came!

This is their Evil Eye Ring, that is a solid band not a chain. They recently added this to their Evil Eye collection and I am obsessed! It’s gorgeous quality, lightweight, and so easy to wear!

If you haven’t checked out Mejuri and you’re a jewelry lover like me, I highly recommend you do! I absolutely love them!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

Getting Back Into Auditions!!

Happy Friday everyone!! I hope you had an amazing week! …I know, I know another week went by and no new Fiction Friday, I’m not happy about it either. I need to hit up Barnes & Noble and get some new books in my life!

But today, I wanted to talk about an audition I went on this week and some tips I learned and used because it has been so long since I’ve been on an audition (thanks mental illness! woo!).  Look my head shot! Woo! So professional!

  1. Take it from Nike, JUST. DO. IT.
If you love acting and it’s your dream (like me) you have to do it. No job (no matter what job you want in life) is going to come your way. YOU have to ACTIVELY seek it out.
  2. Get your feet wet. Audition for anything and everything. No matter how big or small. Get used to auditions again.
I went to this audition not understanding what they wanted me to bring and guess what happened? Nothing. They were super understanding and kind and just asked to send them a video of me singing this one song.
  4. Every audition is not going to be the best audition of your life.
Honestly, this wasn’t the best audition I’ve ever had. I came straight from work, I was tired, lost my voice, I was slightly unprepared, I was so nervous after two years of not auditioning, I put together my headshots and resume the night before, I WAS A MESS. But who cares, this show isn’t going to make or break my career. If I get it AWESOME if not that’s fine because I got back out there and remembered HOW MUCH THIS INDUSTRY MEANS TO ME and how much I want and need to be doing this.
  5. “When you’re going through hell, keep going.” It’s hard to crack into this industry, you can’t let one bad audition get you down. You can’t let yourself feel like you’re not good enough for it when you go on audition after audition and get nothing. Something will happen along the way. If you put all your energy and love and passion into it, you are bound to get want you want out of it. With hard work and persistence and discipline great things happen.

And always be…

In Pursuit of Magic

It felt so good to get back and perform again. I hope it works out and that I am lucky enough to get cast. But if not that’s okay, because I’m so happy that I found something in life that makes it worth it. I won’t let my dream die. And I have a bunch more auditions booked and I cannot wait.

So whether you’re an actor like me or hoping to nail that interview, just know: you f***ing got this! And I am so proud of you for pursing your dream.

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo

June Favorites!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!! I can’t believe it’s that time again! But it is! Time for our beloved Monthly Favorites!! So let’s jump right in shall we?

June Favorites 2017

It’s a short one this month but I do love all of these things! Also, sorry for the horrific quality of this picture I”m having an issue with my camera at the moment!

We’ll start off with my hand and explain why my hand/arm is in my monthly favorites haha! First off the ring I’m wearing is absolutely a favorite this month! Its from a brand called Mejuri and there will be an entire post about it next Wednesday so I won’t go into too much detail here but I love it!

Next is my newest tattoo that I got this month! This is my 5th tattoo and I am obsessed with it! It’s a bean that my Mom drew for me, connected by a line to make it look like a bracelet. Long story short, my Momma calls me “Beanie” and I know she’ll never get matching tattoos with me so this was the next best thing haha! I’m thinking about doing a post on my five tattoos and tips and tricks about the healing process, what to look for when trying to find an artist and all that fun stuff, let me know if you’d find that interesting!

Moving on! I have been OVER THE MOON OBSESSED AND IN LOVE WITH “LUCAS’ PAPAW OINTMENT”. I did a whole post on this with another product that has been saving my Barista skin! And this stuff is a miracle in a tube, so cheap, so amazing and thank goodness for Amazon! I highly highly recommend this stuff if you have dry cracked skin/lips!

We then have a ticket stub from a concert I went to earlier in the month which was a 90s night! And as a child of the 90s it was the best concert I have been to in a very long time! The band was “The Fresh Kids of Bel-Air” and they were absolutely incredible. If you love the 90s look them up and see if they’re playing in a town near you because my goodness it was the best night!

Another thing I love this month but not pictured is a road trip me and my dear friend Marie went on that we called our Pilgrimage and Homage to London. She studied abroad there and we all know I love it. We drove from NY to Maryland for Nando’s (the best restaurant ever and is about 5 hours away) then to Pennsylvania to the King of Prussia Mall for Primark (the best store ever) and it was a day filled with sun, great music, sing alongs, coffee, friends, food and shopping and I don’t know what else would make a perfect day perfect!

And that is it for this month! I’m quite looking forward to July (I have a sneaky little vacation to FL planned), if I’m honest even though I am sad to see June go as I’m writing this post. The road trips, tattoos and concerts made this month great!

Until next time,

Cheers! xoxo
